Department of Art
1. Faculty
The Department has 50 teachers, of which 3 professors, 50 assistant professors, and 15 lecturers.
2. Number of students.
There are now about 400 students in the Department.
3. Achievements in scientific research
More than 260 academic papers and 15 books have been published by teachers of the Department, and more than 20 research projects have been completed, and more than 160 prizes were awarded for academic research in recent years.
4. Activities with unique characteristics
The advanced mode of teaching has achieved remarkable results. Students of the Department have won prizes for many times in the Science and Technology and Art and Culture Festival of University Students of Henan Province. The dancing program “Pretty Huan Dan” was awarded the first prize in the exhibition performance in the 1st National University Student Art and Culture Festival hosted by the Ministry of Education in July 2005.

The Department offers 4 specialties: Music Education, Music Performance, Fine Arts Education and Art Design.
(1) Art Design (undergraduate program)
Introduction to Design, Composition Design, Pattern Design, Character Design, Advertisement Design, Design and Editing, Packaging Design, Book Design, Logo Design, Photography, Computer-Aided Design, Visual Image Design of Enterprise and Institution, Exhibition Design, etc.
(2) Music Education (higher professional program)
Basic Music Theory, Sight-Sing (Solfeggio), Harmonics, Vocal Music, Piano, Accordion, Instrumental Music, Chorus and Conducting, Brief History of Music and Appreciation, Introduction to Art, Figure and Dance, Music Teaching Method, Small Orchestra Arrangement and Song-Writing, Pedagogy, Psychology, Computer Application, English, Common Spoken Chinese, etc.
(3) Music Performance (higher professional program)
Vocal Music, Vocal Music Masterpieces and Performance Appreciation, Ensemble and Singing with Actions, Teaching Method of Vocal Music, Recitation and Standard Pronunciation, Piano, Accordion, Piano Masterpieces and Performance Appreciation, Teaching Method of Orchestral Instrument, Chamber Music, Drama Performance and Masterpiece Appreciation, Drama and Rap Music, Music Performance Theory, etc.
