Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

 

1.      Faculty

The Department has 35 teachers, of which 3 professors and 6 assistant professors; 2 teachers with doctoral degrees and 15 teachers with master’s degrees, forming a team with strong capability of teaching, research and management.

 

2.      Number of students

The Department has more than 300 full-time students on campus, and about 200 graduates from it have passed the tests for master and doctoral degrees.

 

3.      Laboratory and facilities

The Department has equipped itself with advanced facilities, and it has professional laboratories including Laboratory of Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering, Laboratory of Instrumental Analysis and Laboratory of Chemical Teaching.

 

4.      Achievements in scientific research

In recent years, the Department has gained numbers of influential achievements in scientific research, sponsored and participated in 20 research projects and have been awarded more than 30 prizes for academic research, and more than 400 articles of teachers have been published on academic periodicals at home and abroad, of which about 100 were published on national core Chinese and scientific periodicals and 60 were collected by SCI, EI and CA which are authoritative abstracts in the world, and more than 30 books and teaching materials have been published.

The Department sticks to the principle of emphasizing teaching quality, strength, quality and special feature, and endeavors to be excellent, novel, strict, practical and innovative in education.

 

6.      Specialties and core modules

It offers 4 specialties: Chemistry (undergraduate program), Applied Chemical Technology, Chemistry Education and Science Education.

 

(1)   Chemistry (undergraduate program)

Core modules: Basic knowledge, fundamentals, and basic experimental skills of more than 20 modules including Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Structural Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Theory on Chemistry Teaching, Coordination Chemistry, Organic Synthesizing, High Polymer Chemistry, Electrochemistry, etc.

 

(2)   Applied Chemical Technology (higher professional program)

Core modules: Basic knowledge, fundamentals, and basic experimental skills of more than 20 modules including Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Fundamentals of Chemical Engineering, Chemical Drawing, Chemical Equipment, Biochemistry, Food Chemistry, Drug Synthesizing, etc.

 

(3) Chemistry Education (higher professional program)

Core modules: Inorganic Chemistry, Experiments on Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Experiments on Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Experiments on  Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Experiments on Physical Chemistry, Structural Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis, Theory on Chemistry Teaching, etc.

 

(4) Science Education (higher professional program)

Core modules: Basic knowledge, fundamentals, and basic experimental skills of more than 20 modules including Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy, Geography, Physics, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Ecology, etc.
