Lecture on culture of English-speaking country was welcomed

Following the further education cooperation with the foreign universities, there are approximately 20 foreign teachers in our college each year, and cultural background of these teachers tends to be diversified. In order to make full use of the excellent teaching resources, create a good atmosphere for learning English, help the students understand social knowledge and culture of English-speaking countries and develop English learning interest, a culture lecture concerning English-speaking countries was held in No.8 teaching building jointly by Office of Publicity, Academic Department, Committee of Young League, Office of Students¡¯ Affairs, and International office of foreign exchange& cooperation.
Chris Wimmer£¬a foreign teacher from Canada delivered the first lecture regarding Canadian society and culture on 19, November.
Chris Wimmer introduced with illustrated pictures Canada's history, culture, customs, geography, education, music and so on. The atmosphere was lively and cheerful. In the final half-hour question session, the students asked questions and exchanged opinions with Mr. Wimmer actively and enthusiastically. Finally Chris Wimmer happily sang a Canadian song, which won the thunderous applause of students.
This lecture provided a platform for international culture exchange between foreign teachers and students. It has offered opportunities for the students to widen their horizons of knowledge. It is reported the lecture will be held once every two weeks, the office of international exchange & cooperation will post a promotion beforehand and give information on the lecture.
